Sometimes finding someone to climb with can be difficult. I always found it difficult to find someone to climb with, until I started working in a climbing wall. It has become slightly more easier recently with online groups and the rise apps. But however when you do find someone to climb with they may not be psyched to climb the same stuff as you want to climb. Anyway I've summarised some of the best ways underneath to find that perfect person to trust your life with!
Online
There is a growing variety of online ways of finding a climbing partner, including some apps.
Climb Buddy (app) - An app for iPhone and Android. People have had different amounts of success with this app, think it only really works in major towns and cities where there is more people. Has good filtering features and a good concept.

Forums - Online forums such as UKC lifts and Partners. Never used it, but essentially a UKC member can post something and anyone else that might also want or is going to the same area can replay.
Facebook - There is a lot of groups on Facebook now, covering the majority of all climbing areas in the UK. I have used these groups a few times and one person I still climb with occasionally now, great way to meet new people.
Climbing Clubs
These can be interesting. Most are filled with the older generation, with little, if any younger members and usually require you to pay a annual membership fee. It's a great way however of getting to meet loads of like minded people, especially if just starting out as members will usually be keen to help you out.

Climbing Wall
Either just hover around and talk to people, introduce yourself and ask if you can climb with them, we're generally a friendly bunch! Most walls now usually have a social group or evening where you can go along to meet new people.
Even though I have listed a lot of ways above that do not put you in a situation where you don't directly have to talk to someone, don't be frightened just to get out there, talk to people and get climbing. With the popularity of climbing growing, you have a better chance now than ever before to find someone psyched to climb at that crag 2 hours walk from the car park. Wont get anything done sat at home moaning that you have no-one to climb with, and if the worst comes to the worst, just become a boulderer!
